§ 4.4.4 Chemical Processing of Minerals

Detailed discussions of chemical processing schemes will be developed on the website over time. This gets very technical. Generally, they employ chemicals to extract the desired elements from minerals. Conventional chemical processing schemes are more commonly proposed for processing material on the lunar surface than for orbit-based processing. The chemical "reagents" must be stringently recycled, especially if they're not readily available from their host material.
