§ 4.8.6 General Websites on Automation and Teleoperation

In addition to the following websites, we would like to make known any continuous working groups and other resources.

  • NASA Space Telerobotics Program - a good resource, including a long, well organized, comprehensive list of other telerobotics WWW sites.
  • LunaCorp in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute is developing a robotic probe to travel across the lunar surface, including a prototype tested in a 200 km journey across the Atacama Desert in Chile. Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute is one of the leading university-based robotics institutions in the world, and has performed a few studies into robotics for lunar materials utilization.
  • Institute for Teleoperated Space Development - Use of teleoperated space robots to more economically initiate large scale space development. Good general explanation followed by a list of WWW sites on robotics and teleoperation, though their own site wasn't very developed at the time of my last visit.
